Abstract

ABSTRACT - The work in question is guided by the Communicative Approach (CA) methodology, as it is believed to facilitate the learning of a new language, as well as being more meaningful and seeming more real to the individual who is learning, stimulating the sense of communication. The topic was chosen through experience in the classroom and online classes using the CA, leading to the research problem of encouraging students to develop speaking skills in the English language. The general objective is: the importance of using the communicative approach (CA) as a methodological tool for teaching English. To complement the research, the specific objectives are: the development of listening comprehension; speaking; reading and writing in the participation of students with teachers in an interactive way, providing better development in English language learning. The work is justified by the need to improve English language teaching with a view to enabling students to develop their language skills. A survey was carried out using interviews with students on an online English course in the city of Campos dos Goytacazes/RJ. The Communicative Approach methodology ended up providing new possibilities and new ways of understanding learning processes in the acquisition of a new target language, in this case the English language. New, broader and more detailed studies can be carried out with the aim of developing new subjects and new pedagogical approaches, helping people to acquire a new language in a more meaningful and efficient way.
